I have been a filmmaker of 20 years making social issue documentaries, shorts, features, TV and web series.

From a working class background, I’m an outlier in the content I choose to make, exploring spaces that people have little knowledge of. Some of which include women in gangs, transgender community workers, young men in boot camps, street Kids and truancy, all made in the early 2000’s.

From 2012, I travelled to Palestine and made two Maori/Palestinian arts docos and a doco in Cambodia about a Māori man who was bringing giant African rats in to use for land mine detection.

Wanting to try my hand at drama, I wrote and directed two short films that did well on the festival circuit, a tv comedy series about my time in the spinal unit.

I co-wrote and co-directed an evangelical church drama for Warner’s NZ ,and co-wrote and co-directed the feature films, WHINA and WARU.

I am currently self-distributing a doco I spent 18 years making about a retired NZ paediatric cardiac surgeon and his wife, and their work in Palestine.

Having my first taste of the film industry when selling my first screenplay, the crime thriller Juanita to Miramar shortly before their demise in 1993, I proceeded to form Film Buff Productions in 1996.

We have produced films in locations such as Vanuatu, Laos, Iceland, USA, Australia and New Zealand.

Our films have screened in numerous international film festivals, cinemas, broadcast television and of course VHS and DVDs. Our films have garnered many international awards.

The lessons learned from The Rehearsal feature film in 2015, together with our 24 documentaries and 3 short films holds me in good stead to guide Callum to its successful conclusion.

Andrew Marfleet, is an Australian writer, original story and concept developer for animation feature, The Deli Llama.

Andrew is a screenplay writer and executive producer for Callum.

He was a co-producer for; the Australian feature The Brighton Miracle, 2019; (Director - Max Mannix).

He has published a novel, A Fatal Misuse of Time, which has been optioned for a screenplay.

Andrew has a extensive background in venture capital and technology innovation.

He previously worked in Japan for over 15 years as a journalist at the Mainichi Newspaper and is fluent in Japanese and Korean.
